World Book Day

As you may know, our World Book Day celebrations, here at Gresham Village, were delayed due to sudden wintry weather conditions.  However, yesterday we celebrated in true Gresham Village style!

A huge number of the children dressed as up and paraded as their favourite book characters: The Cat in the Hat, Mr Fox, Pocahontas, The Queen of Hearts, Gangster Granny, Things 1,2 and 3, and many, many more.

As part of our celebrations, Mr Goodliffe told us of his plans for an outdoor 'Reading Shed', in place by the end of the Summer Term.  He also asked the children to have a think about what the shed might look like, how would it work, where would the books be stored and where could you read?  To try and help our designer, we all began to put our ideas down as drawings and in words.  These will be passed onto the designers so that they can draw inspiration from them and maybe even include our actual designs in the final shed itself!

The day ended with the first annual Gresham Village Book Quiz.  Each house was armed with a distinctive buzzer for eight rounds of questions.  These included questions on book characters, book covers, first lines, blurbs, a quick fire round of miscellaneous questions and an 'identify the author' round.   Lots of points were up for grads, but the overall winners were (drumroll please)..............

OAKS!
