Friday 12th February
This week Reception and Nursery children celebrated the Chinese New Year of the Monkey. We performed the ribbon and fan dances, gracefully moving in time to traditional Chinese music.
Then it was time for the dragon! The children took turns to be part of the dragon or to perform the accompanying music, using cymbals, drums and tambourines. Although our dragon looked quite fierce, in China dragons are seen as kind and wise and bring good luck.
Next, the Reception children acted out the story of the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac which also explained the reason why cats hate rats!
We were delighted that so many people came to enjoy our performance! Afterwards, we all enjoyed some well deserved Chinese snacks.
