Lets go surfin'

Would we get wet?  That was the question on our minds all morning on Tuesday. Thunderstorms were, indeed, forecast but came to nothing.  Instead the sea was calm with only a odd wave or two managing to break.  Never the less we were excited by the prospect of having a go at surfing!

We arrived and immediately ate our lunches.  We only had a few minutes before we were due to meet the RNLI Lifeguards, our teachers for the afternoon.

After a chat about safety on the beach we were sent off to get changed into our wetsuits.  This took quite a while, especially for the boys who seemed to want to put them on inside out, back to front and even upside down!  Finally we were ready and out tutors led us down to the sea where we split into two groups.

One group was surfing whilst the other was trying their hand at rescuing people in distress in the sea, keeping themselves safe at the same time.  Everyone swapped over after about 3/4 of an hour and the activities were repeated.

We all had a fantastic time and would like to thank the RNLI team, Steve for driving us there and back, Emma's mum for helping out and Mrs Dunnet and Mr Coles for organizing the trip.
